NCHU has made sustainability a top priority for its policies, education, and campus life. NCHU/IAC has therefor initiated the ongoing Green Campus Project in September 2021 to promote a more sustainable campus at NCHU. Its goals are to improve awareness of sustainable development issues as expressed in the 17 United Nations SDGs, and foster engagement for action to create a more sustainable campus, by teachers, staff, and students.
The first activity that has been initiated, is an in-class campus audit, together with three professors in Entomology, Education, and Physics. Students have surveyed the NCHU campus and have identified issues that need improvement.
Their 2022 Spring Semester final reports are presented to an expert panel in an international conference. The distinguished guest speakers discuss and comment on the projects, and provide suggestions for further development.
These pilot student projects function as a basis for further action and deeper development of the Green Campus Project in the years to come.
The on-campus auditing will continue as we seek to expand the project to more classrooms and eventually, throughout the campus.
